The biggest difference between do follow and no follow links is that do follow is telling the search engines to transfer a page rank to an outgoing link. When a hyperlink with anchor text is placed on a dofollow page it is a better link. Not to say no follow is no longer important in the sometimes technical world of seo.

If you get more do follow links your sites links will have a better effect on your ranking.

Is relevancy the new rank?  As 2013 approaches you need to ask yourself this question.  The last two years have seen three of the most important changes to Google’s ranking algorithm to date.  Panda, Penguin, and EMD.  The ongoing updates to each of these were important as well.  Generally speaking, those not following the SEO world, ignore the changes made to major roll-outs like Panda and Penguin.

Look at it this way.

Every day Google changes the way your site is ranked!

Updates have become frequent enough that considering an updater as happening each day isn’t far fetched at all—it’s the truth of the matter.  Due to the overuse of certain SEO practices, and the fact it’s not been given as much attention as other updates, the exact match domain (EMD) update is perhaps the most important change in 2012.  While there is absolutely nothing wrong with creating a domain with your keywords in, you won’t automatically be given an added boast to your SEO.

Keep in mind the use of ‘branded links’ is often under utilized. A branded link is the use of your URL as the anchor instead whatever certain keyword you wish to promote.  (If the page and/or site has these keywords you still gain a similar benefit either way.) Instead of using your most high traffic keyword when given the chance to place your link on a relevant site, consider you’re branded link. If you are anything like me, you network with other site owners in your niche for links. It’s tough, but the goodies you snag when swapping links with another site owner are among the best links you will ever find. They’re exclusive. No one else is placing their link on these sties. You trade a link from one of your best sites to one of their best sites, but not the same one. ALWAYS point toward different sites, or it’s considered a reciprocal link and has far less value.

On another note, if the keywords you are trying to rank for are in your URL, and you make use of branded links, you will still see some gains on the keywords that are due to the keyword use in the original URL. What you won’t receive is an automatic boast to your sites rankings on those keywords. Nonetheless, the best solution is to stop worrying over what words are in your URL when you buy a domain. This way of thinking led marketers and site owners everywhere to buy up massive amounts of domain names with the same keywords.

When creating fresh links, try to follow the 3 rules below.

1. Use your branded link 20% of the time (if not more).
2. Consider relevancy as much as PR when placing a link.
3. Check and see if the site ranks on any keywords related to your niche. If at all possible try to ensure that 1/3 of your ‘one way links’ and ‘guest blogs are on ranking sites. By doing this your link profile will be more attractive and you will gain rankings must faster.

You may have noticed more recently a lot of sites using guest blogging. If you haven’t noticed, you should have—it’s a healthy practice for your site’s SEO. For those of you unaware of the practice, a guest blog is when another site allows you to post an article or promotional piece. Guest blogging is the new article marketing, except that you use one articles/guest at one time versus syndicating the content. I highly advise using this method when combined with the above rules.

Try to if at all possible post an original piece for each guest blog. As long as the practice isn’t overdone, using the same piece two to three times on occasion is acceptable. My method of doing this is to use an article once if on a site with a Page Rank of 3 or above. If below PR3, I’ll use the same piece twice roughly 1/3 of the time.

To conclude: At the end of the day always choose the relevant site over the site with a little more PR. For the more experienced in SEO, you can use the following two sites to obtain links:

https://www.intellilinks.com/

http://www.fiverr.com/

Intellilinks is the more expensive of the two. I advise to dividing the links you buy between contextual and regular links. Buy only 1/3 contextual links from Intellilinks due to the fact they are placed within existing text that has been crawled. It’s always better to be placed in fresh text. Intellilinks does not publicly list the domains. It keeps them out of the eye sight of Google and your competition.

Fiverr is a bit of a wild west. Approach with caution and buy from only the most trusted sellers, trying to customize your links whenever possible, and carefully sorting through the slew of links you can find for any niche. I personally spend anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes on every five dollar links I buy from there. This time is spent researching and vetting my links. When buying from Fiverr always make sure to buy from sellers that do not publicly list their domain names.

The reason I advise using the above two sites is because if used correctly and with discretion, you’re not broad casting where you are buying from as with some sites that offers SEO services. Many for instance have banners for their main SEO site distributed across every domain they own, making it obvious to competitors where you’ve bought from. Keep you link profile clean. Never show your hand.

Internet Fraud – The Dawn of d Dark Day Looming

With the internet growing everyday you can suspect that internet fraud will eventually be a huge problem. What are the laws relating to internet fraud? When I started to search was when my own online reputation was being questioned with liable statements.  You can’t fire a subcontractor, lol.  A statement to such would be liable to say the least.  It quickly became my passion to begin studying internet law.

How do you prosecute internet fraud?  There are few laws on the books pertaining to the world wide web.  How do international affairs factor into seo?  Can you prosecute someone outside of the country that doesn’t make good on a contract?  Are international contracts legal?

Personally I don’t let what one person says effect the way I think about a company or myself!  I know that 99.9% of my clients are thrilled to have worked or be working with me. They know my reputation of honesty above all and never question my seo tactics, as they are certain they are all white hat.  In fact, I’m so picky that if a company does something that I think is outside of the law, even in a gray area, I quickly “resign”.  Everyone who really knows me knows this is fact.

Internet fraud is a big issue. I’m getting ready to do some media spots for drive time talk radio. Across the globe  the capability of great fraud indeed exists on a large scale. My plea is to the government, to whoever regulates the internet to keep it safe.  By broadcasting the flurry of internet fraud commentary it will help those who are seeking reputable sources to be able to find them.  There are a lot of reputable sources out there.  Google is the first and foremost reputable source.  If someone is trying to sell you something compare it to google guidelines. It’s really as simple as that.

How will the government regulate the internet? These are questions I have yet to research but will in the days to come.

With google changing everyday its important to understand the basics of good seo.  Good seo is an art and a science.  Every site is different and should be.  The art of good seo is the art of determining what seo methods you will use for your site.  Again each site is different so each site should be well thought out and very different.  The science of seo is that there are standard methods to the basics of good seo.  Every site has to be structured so that google can easily read its intention. That’s the basics of good seo, being seen by google and the other search engines!

We read all the advice and do all the seo research as possible only to be left confused.  My advise to understanding the basics of good seo is to start with google tools.  Google offers information on what they require from a site.  If you intend to rank in google you will certainly have to adhere to their standards.  Bing and Yahoo have standards apart from google.  Study up on all the guidelines and you will be one step closer to understanding the best basics of good seo.

Noone loves google more than I do.  I have been studying google for years, along side my son and my co-workers we live and breath google.  Google is so amazing.  The opportunity to get in on the google market and be ranked high in the first pages of a search is an incredible tool for success.  Literally any entrepreneur can make it big with google, particularly if employing great seo on a website.  I see 10 new site interviews a day.  I speak with new webmasters around the clock and around the globe. The ideas are endless.  I just heard that the number of people in the world now match the number of online websites.  Where will the market lead us?

The basics of good seo requires a great deal of study on the daily changes of google, bing and yahoo.  Staying up to date on the changes effecting seo is essential.  Do you have a website that requires a 1st place position in google?  If so, do you know the basics of good seo?

1.  On site optimization -  Taking a websites code to make sure all the meta tags, i.e. Title tag, H1, h2, alt and meta-descriptions for each page are all different and accurate to the content of the page.  Analyzing the content to make sure it is properly seo’d is important!

2. Off site optimization

a. The process of building links to the site, authority links not junk links.

b. Building on social media and not just facebook, twitter and youtube.  There are literally hundreds if not 1000′s of social media sites where you should link your business.  Build on the friends and followers of each site and make posts regularly keeping these profiles active. When these profile pages begin to have a page rank of their own, the link you placed then becomes more valuable.

c.  Submitting few directory listings only the best of the web!

d. Submitting few forum posts only the best of the best.  Because so many were spamming directory and forum sites, google now has a method of detecting if your site is associated with these now spam sites or if they are using them sparingly as they should be.  Google is out to get spam and for that we are grateful.

Free seo tutorials?  Is anything really for free?

Indeed there is plenty of free seo tutorials online.  There is also huge caution as to which seo information is correct.  In fact, there is a lot of free seo information online, much of which is really good.  In fact, our own blog is dedicated to giving free help for those who may not be able to afford an seo expert or seo packages from a top provider.  We receive feedback every single day regarding the info we post, and it’s all positive.  What we do not know, we do not profess to know.

What could be more damaging to your website than working on it yourself if you have not been trained in search engine optimization?  If you apply unknown seo techniques, or seo tactics that you are not completely sure of, it’s like rolling the dice with your website. Or, you can hire someone at a low cost and get exactly what you pay for?  We actually had offshore persons stealing out identity, claiming to be Kathryn Sias.  That’s how good we are.  Not smiling.  Yes we’re good, but beware of any professed top seo company.  Make sure you speak with the person directly to make sure that you are not talking to an identity thief.

If you’ve been hit by google’s penguin latest update then there is hope, guaranteed.  Here’s the thing:

• Yes your site has been hit but there are remedies
• The first fix is to find all the links coming into your site.  We will look for data, finding ratio of no-follow to do-follow, we will even find the ip it came in on
• Many of the bad links can be removed. We use several, mainly manual removal techniques that may require removing 20K or more links coming into your site
• We also begin the new linkbuilding process on all new platforms, staying away from the ones anywhere remotely spam, and especially the platforms that were hit in the penquin update. Diversity of links is essentil these days.
• We will analyze and correct any home page or site-wide content link structure, although this is basic seo not particular to the penquin update.

With whatever seo services you need for your company,  you’re going to want to make sure to be penguin protected.  They may seem like innocent little creatures but they are not in googles eyes. 

And this is the best news of all. If you start now, repairing your sites bad links, and other site factors, you will see rise now, but think of how well your site will do in the next update?  Once your site is “common sense” perfect, within google’s guidelines, using expert seo team advice your site will thrive.
