“Why are Monday’s always so crazy?”

Yes indeed, just another manic Monday. Monday’s are typically the busiest day of the week. I can honestly say that I must have nerves of steel to do what I do.  For this reason we keep all “negative” influences from our life, work only with the best team and clients, and refuse to let any one take away our joy. If not it would be manic Tuesday through Sunday as well.  After Mondays are over, I’m usually settled in, (smiles).  Hope your Mondays are great. I’m learning how to deal with “just another manic Monday” myself.

I don’t think there’s a day that goes by that someone doesn’t ask me the question, what is black hat seo? I wanted to write an article on this topic months ago and decided I didn’t want to place the term, “black hat” on any of my sites, and since have changed my mind. Why? Because there’s nothing wrong with explaining black hat seo or what it is, it’s wrong to do though, very stupid.

Think of the cloak and dagger man wearing the tall black hat.  He looks evil and nasty, which is likely where the term first originated.

Black hat is a method of seo that is dangerous. There are also many methods of black hat that including hiding text on a site to fool the search engines into thinking a particular site is really on a different topic. Does that make sense? You can’t imagine the spammers out there. I work with about 20 different clients and trust me, if I see any black hat methods or even the mention of it, I usually run so fast you don’t even hear my feet hit the floor.

Another type of black hat seo would be to spam the internet by blasting 1000′s of links using automated software. It’s just not fair to those who are doing white-hat, or all-good seo. Google recognizes it and eventually will de-index your site, take it out of the searches, and then where will you be? Stop, drop and listen! Our clients sites are never effected when updates are made to googles algorithm.  There’s a lot of great information on what exactly is black hat seo so go do your research, and in the meantime I hope this has helped.

That’s always a great question. What does google want from me?  That’s the million dollar question. The answer is not so simple.

First of all I’m an seo expert that likely won’t give you the entire answer (big, big smiles) but I will tell you the basics of all good white-hat seo and it starts with quality content.  Google realizes that anyone can build or buy a lot of junk spam links and that competitors can spam the hades out of you. They just won’t let that happen. With that being said, if you write for your life and post your quality content on a quality blog and or already ranking pages then you’re in there.   You should also place only one contextual link in each blog post and don’t overload your page with not-so-quality content. I’m serious, if the content is good then you won’t be asking the question, “What does google want from me?” ever again.

A person can do a whole heck of a lot for their own self. I guess I’m old-school. I believe in getting up at the crack of dawn and with the chickens, no matter how late I work. They complain they don’t have this or that but they don’t show up for work on time and yet they get mad at those who chastise them.

When I speak my mind, I go all out to make my point.  I love everyone, and the persons I am talking about are everywhere, so I am not singling out anyone particular. It angers me though. It angers me that I have to work so hard and pay huge amounts of tax at the end of the year to subsidize food stamps and welfare for those who are offered work but refuse to.  Yeah today is just one of those days!  God love em’, they just aren’t grown.

Work vs. family, it’s an age-old topic that many parents, particularly mothers are interested in.  Recently I turned Kathrynsias.com into a “personal” and “professional” blog, whereby the personal vs. professional issue now plays a big part of which I am very liberal.  I believe that a client wants to know who he is working with. By posting my new “Kathryn Sias Speaks” I have an opportunity to journal my day to day experiences pertaining to work and family. Trust me, it will be an interesting read.

No I am not a writer.  You’ll quickly see a ton of grammar errors, maybe even spelling mistakes.  Because time is of the essence when you’re balancing work and family, it’s not always possible to be perfect with the written word.  Forgive me if my grammar usage and spelling gets on your nerves, lol.

And in business there are a lot of really nice persons, and also a lot of true jerkage.  I know “jerkage” isn’t a word but it is now, at least in Kathryn Sias’s book. I intend to write a book someday, it will be another “interesting read”.

Why does google keep changing things ?

Google is always changing the way it ranks sites.  That’s the problem with trying to do your own search engine optimization.  If you are attempting to do your own seo (search engine optimization) please beware. You can ruin your sites chances of being seen by millions of google searchers, literally in a matter of minutes.

Google changes are always cool because they continue to find ways to rank sites that deserve the top ranks, and not just because the web master is a nifty link builder. I have said it a million times, optimization is far more than mere link building, and in fact it’s the link building that can really hurt you. Quality inbound one-way links from other sites who see your site important enough to include in their favorite links or somewhere on their site will always be great. Although some swear by article writing, it can in fact create a duplicate content problem when and if someone picks up your article and copies it.  Some of the old tried-and-true methods are no longer options.

The best way to compete with the google changes is to keep writing great content for your main site. Keep your main site moving and busy by adding a blog post or two per day.  For now, I’m almost afraid to do anything except blog posts with all original content.  Obviously original content is the key.

I deal with all types of clients and each one requires a specific method of optimization. Some client sites have literally 100′s of posts on them, but not all original information. Instead, I see a lot of duplicate information, even when cited can still be a problem.  When you write for your site, do not copy a word from anywhere else, write from the heart.  When you make posts to your external blogs, such as a wordpress or blogger blog, please make sure you don’t copy your content to your blog site.  Make all new posts to each blog and you’ll be doing great!

Why does google keep changing things? Google makes it’s changes so that only the best sites reach the top. It’s frustrating sometimes, but as we move along in the world of internet marketing, we quickly see the benefit of all the google changes.

It’s sad but true that google changes the way it does things and quite often I might add.

1. Link value is more important than ever. Having a blog that is not purely promotional but adding links to outside high ranking content such as news sites, etc. is smart, particularly if you’re a finance company. If you’re an artist website you can write an article, post only one link that is not directed to your own site, an artist site would consider sites such as museums, .org museums or .edu sites, etc.

2. Posting only your own links on a site is going to damage your site.  Make sure that you build external blogs not related at all to your site and make just one or two links to your own site, inter-mingled with tons of other links, all different for each blog. You can’t’ get more organic that this.

It’s true!  Google beats to their own drum. Google seems to be able to do whatever google wants to in ranking our sites organically.  It can be a never ending battle to optimize our sites.  There is more to getting your website seen than simple seo.  I have always said that sales will depend on more than just great link building, rather target your market, brand your product, make sure your product is great, and demand perfect customer service from your own company.  Without all the ingredients you won’t succeed.  Thinking smart is sometimes hard, when you have “links for brains”.  I am screaming, “Great Search Engine Optimization”  is more than link building.  When google decides to deflate the value of a particular link or an article, they’re the boss. There’s nothing we can do about how google chooses who get’s ranked one page one, except to perform every factor of seo to perfection.  Meaning, you can’t just build blogs, you have to do everything, the directories, the profiles, social bookmarking, article writing, classified ads, blog carnivals, rss feeds, image tagging and uploading, videos’, podcasts, you name it!  If you plan on being a huge success in internet marketing then remember this.  No one has all the answers, and google beats to their own drum!

Okay I’ve heard it all!  This market is huge!  After doing some research today I realize that there are a lot of shows, television, entertainment, and star sites that get a ga-zillion hits each day.  The Jerry Springer Audience alone is huge.  Visit our own idea of how to advertise your site on different types of websites that will draw traffic back to your own site. I know that a lot of my own blog readers are very conservative so please, no offense to your own tastes.  I merely have a point to make by saying, “The Jerry Springer” late night market is huge!

Twitter, if used correctly, can drive a great deal of traffic to your website.  There are other ways to drive traffic, i.e., social bookmarking, article writing, etc., but Twitter is really cool. If your followers are loyal they will be inclined to visit every post you offer up on Twitter.
